Originally from Troy, Ohio, Jon met Cyndi in Bend, Oregon and formed the acoustic duo Thistle Down in 2015.  They moved back to Ohio in late 2017 and decided to start their music on a new foot by creating a new band with a new name that connects them to their “new” hometown.

The Barnhart Band turned into a trio when guitarist Pat joined in 2019 for a full summer of gigging all over the Miami Valley. Unfortunately, after that great summer, work called on Pat to move to Europe … he is missed! Scott Atkinson came onto the scene at the very end of 2019, bringing his Dobro with him.

Our Mission:

Share the experience of live music. It’s as simple as that. With a deep well of original songs from songwriter John Treasure to choose from, every performance is different as the band feeds off the energy of the audience. From growled-out blues to expansive acoustic explorations to love songs and even some country thrown in, the band loves the thrill of live music.

Currently a trio featuring guitar, harmonica, upright bass and dobro, the Barnhart band is always looking for new gigs and new musical collaborators. Reach out to us to see where we’re playing or to invite us to your event.
